Cristiano Ronaldo, suspended by Portugal

The Disciplinary Council of the Portuguese Football Federation has opened a disciplinary file against Cristiano Ronaldo after his abandonment of the national team’s training camp in Copenhagen and his subsequent confrontation with the coach, Jorge Jesús. Furthermore, it orders that the matter be processed urgently. The player is officially under provisional suspension.

The statement reads as follows: “On October 9, 2026, the Non-Professional Section initiated a disciplinary procedure against Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro with the objective of determining the possible disciplinary relevance of the events reported on October 7, 2026. Without prejudice to the automatic preventive suspension to which he was subject until the date of the start of the procedure, a non-automatic preventive suspension of the player was determined and was granted urgency. The file was sent on October 10, 2026 to the Disciplinary Instruction Committee of the FPF (Portuguese Football Federation), and its publication was excluded until the investigation was completed.”
