Carlos Sainz: “It will not be the best scenario for a Williams”

Williams took a step forward with the weight reduction that the evolution of Bakualso in terms of aerodynamics. That allowed him to be fast in Azerbaijan, but he warned that in many other circuits, he would have to suffer. He put his car in Q2 to everyone’s surprise Sepang thanks to a final adjustment after a great joint analysis with his team that gave him wings in classification. But in Singapore, it is much more realistic.

Carlos does not believe that his car can fight with the same weapons, much less with respect to Bakusince despite the step forward, the rest of the teams have also improved and the aerodynamic concept of their car is still bad, something that they want to correct at the root with the 2027 car.

“I think you have seen that on low-speed corner circuits like in Baku, our car can perform and we can be closer to the Top-10. Not in the Top-10, but closer. But when we added medium and high speed curves, our car has not been good enough to give us the possibility of fighting for that Top-10 in medium/high speed circuits,” he recalled in Singapore, in statements published by the ‘Motorsport.com’ portal.

When we added medium and high speed corners, our car was not good enough to give us the chance to fight for that top-10.

“Singapore is clearly a low-speed circuit, but with a much higher average speed than Baku. And that’s why it’s probably not the best circuit for us. “It won’t be the best scenario for us.”commented Carlos who, of the six races remaining in the F1 World Championship, believes that his car could only fight with good performance in the middle zone in Mexico: “I think Baku was the last of the circuits that would favor us, perhaps along with Mexico.”
