Fernando Alonso and the Honda engine: “It’s 37 km/h on the straight”

“What strategy seems the most appropriate for tomorrow? Finish the race, let’s see how many abandonments there are,” he said.

“In Zandvoort we were half a second behind Williams in the time trial, and then in the race we are much better, because our chassis holds up better to the tires and everything. And here we are in the same tenth, so I think we have gained a lot of corners,” he noted, to get something positive.

A note to the track?

“It’s difficult to put a ranking of the track. As I said before, for me the conventional circuits are always going to win, because they are circuits where you can train every day of the year, you can look for the limits of the car. In Formula 1 you always go to the limits of the performance, and in the urban circuits you always go at 95%, because you have those walls and you also have to finish the race. But hey, I think it’s fun compared to other circuits, like Baku or Singapore, I think at least here you have that extra speed, you have that adrenaline, and the fans… it’s unmatched to take a lap here compared to any other circuit.”
