Jackson Martínez takes up his boots six years later
The forward Colombian Jackson Martinez He will return from retirement six years later and, at 39, will play in the Deportivo Independiente Medellín (DIM), initially until December, as reported this Friday by the Colombian club.
““Equipo del Pueblo SA reports the return of Jackson Martínez, one of the great references in the history of Deportivo Independiente Medellín and one of the top scorers of our institution.”the club announced in a statement about the forward, who had retired in December 2020. Playing again, as in Porto, alongside Juan Fernando Quintero.
His career fell apart when he suffered a serious ankle injury between 2015 and 2016, so he was never able to recover his best level.
“Since my ankle injury between 2015/2016, a fight began, giving my all to return to playing in favorable conditions this sport that I am so passionate about and although I returned to the courts after two years it was very difficult to perform as I longed for,” expressed at the time of his retirement Jackson Martínez, born on October 3, 1986 in the municipality of Quibdó, capital of the jungle department of Chocó.

Martínez only scored four goals in the 16 games he played between the league and the cup, in addition to suffering constant injuries that kept him off the playing fields and deprived him of maintaining an optimal rhythm of competition.
On March 1, 2018, the Chinese club and the player’s agents decided to terminate his contract because the Colombian had spent the entire course without playing a single minute, all due to an ankle injury that prevented him from playing for more than 18 months.
In 2018, the striker signed for the Portimonensefrom Portugal’s first division, where he scored his last goal as a professional in February 2020 in his team’s 2-1 loss against Sporting Lisbon.
