Enric Mas, with “confidence through the roof”

The leader of the Vuelta a España, Enric Mas, assured this Tuesday that he has “confidence through the roof”, after having overcome another day of transit towards the key remaining stages, the time trial on Thursday in Jerez and the mountain races on Friday and Saturday in Peñas Blancas and Collado del Alguacil.

“One day less, there are five left. In this type of stages like today, time can be lost or gained. We have sky-high confidence and for now every day is positive,” said Mas after the sixteenth stage.

Mas completed his eighth day with the leader’s red jersey, therefore as many days complying with the podium protocol, anti-doping control, press conference…

“It doesn’t put any special stress on me to do those things. Hopefully I have to do it every day. The organization makes it easy and everything happens quickly,” he explained.

Enric Mas was in favor of “giving less importance to Thursday’s time trial.”

“Yesterday I said that the Vuelta is 21 days and the time trial is one more. I focus on the remaining stages until then,” he concluded.
