Tronchon, an incredulous Vuelta stage winner: “It’s crazy, I can’t believe it”
Bastien Tronchon (Groupama-FDJ United), winner of the tenth stage of Vuelta 26, considered “crazy, something incredible” a victory that marked his debut in one of the majors.
“I don’t know how I did it! I launched my sprint and I wasn’t sure if there were still runners ahead or not. I didn’t raise my hands… It’s crazy! I can’t believe it. The last few days were very hard for me and today I felt good,” the French cyclist said at the finish line.
Tronchon competed at the finish line with the big sprint favorites and achieved what he never imagined.
“I told Guillaume Martin-Guyonnet: ‘Give everything until death’. And I took the victory. It’s incredible! I didn’t think I could achieve something like that in La Vuelta. This year’s preparation was not very good; I didn’t feel good last week,” he concluded.
