2-2: Lewandowski rescues a point for Chicago in Seattle

Dejan Joveljić scored a goal in each half on his debut with seattlebut Maren Haile-Selassie and Robert Lewandowski responded for Chicagoresulting in a 2-2 tie between the Sounders and the Fire this Saturday.

Seattle took the lead when Joveljić scored in the 12th minute after receiving assists from rookie Sebastián Gómez – the first of his career – and defenseman Kalani Kossa-Rienzi – the second of his. It was the ninth goal of the season for Joveljić, who arrived this week after a transfer with Sporting Kansas City worth $6 million.

Chicago tied the score in the 38th minute thanks to Haile-Selassie’s fifth goal, moving one shy of his career high. Lewandowski added his fourth assist in his first seven league games, while defender Andrew Gutman recorded his fifth of the campaign.

Joveljić scored again to give the Sounders a 2-1 lead three minutes into the second half. Albert Rusnák added his eighth assist, and 19-year-old Snyder Brunell his second. Lewandowski headed in the tying goal in the 82nd minute. Haile-Selassie recorded his eighth assist, tying his career high set in each of the last two seasons.
