93-77: FIATC Girona beats English Cheshire Phoenix in their first friendly

FIATC Girona clearly won this Saturday in Platja d’Aro against the English Cheshire Phoenix (93-77) in the first friendly match of the preseason for Moncho Fernández’s team, in preparation for its European debut.

Equality marked the first part of the duel (23-26 at the end of the first quarter and 31-31 at 15 minutes), but Girona broke the game with a 19-7 score to reach halftime with a 50-38 lead.

The Catalan partial reached 45-21 to make it 76-52 at the end of the third period, before the English team made up the score in the last quarter.

The game marked the debut of two signings, Mac McClung, two-time MVP and all-time leading scorer in the G League and three-time winner of the NBA dunk contest, and Stanley Whittaker.

Lithuanian center Martinas Geben was the top scorer with 16 points in 13 minutes, followed by McClung and Sergi Martínez (11) and Pep Busquets and Whittaker (10).
