The National Team passes the medical exams and is already preparing the FIBA Window
The Spanish basketball team successfully passed the medical examinations on Monday morning in Madrid and this afternoon he will travel to Saragossa to prepare for the qualifying matches for the World Cup Taste 2027.
‘The Family’ will face Portugal in the Prince Felipe pavilion Saragossa (August 28) and will travel until Athens to play before Greece (August 31), which will not feature its great star Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Both matches correspond to the second phase of the qualification for the next World Cup of the Taste 2027 and Chus Mateo’s team is leading Group I with 5 wins and only one loss.
The 14 players gathered on Sunday in Madridwithout the presence of the Canarian power forward Santi Aldamawhich will be low for the aforementioned commitments to “not force” his recovery from a knee injury.
As indicated by the Spanish Federation Basketball (FEB), the tests that the 14 internationals underwent consisted of “analysis, physical examination, cardiovascular assessment and different diagnostic tests aimed at confirming that the athletes face the competition in the best health conditions.”
Diego Niebla joins the concentration
Although Chus Mateo initially had no intention of covering the loss of Santi Aldama and facing these qualifying matches with the rest of the 14 players called up, he has finally decided to find a replacement and, in the process, give a young value a chance. This is Asisa Joventut forward Diego Niebla, whom the FEB announced as a last-minute addition to the team with a view to working from tomorrow in Zaragoza. Niebla, 18 years old, will reinforce training throughout this week.
