Luis Enrique explains: “To continue winning you have to change things”

Luis Enrique Martínez does not want under any circumstances that the PSG settles in after a historic season in which they won the Champions League again. The Parisian coach, in the preview of the Trophée des Champions against Lens this Sunday (8:45 p.m.), insisted on the need to continue improving to stay at the top.

“To continue winning you have to change things,” he said. The coach explained that incorporating new players does not mean distrusting those who are already there: “Just because we seek to improve our team does not mean that we do not have confidence in the players we have.”

The Asturian focused on the difficulty of maintaining a winning cycle. “We know that there are no moments that last forever in football,” he said. For this reason, he considers it essential to maintain the demands: “We want to continue winning. We are a young, ambitious team.” A market with clear ideas.

Luis Enrique defended the joint work with Luis Campos and the club’s management. PSG, he explained, is not looking to sign for the sake of signing, but rather to find players who fit their idea. “There are many high-quality players who, however, do not correspond to the profile we are looking for,” he said.

He also left open the possibility of more movements, especially in goal, although without questioning his current goalkeepers. “When we win, we make difficult decisions. We have to accept this,” he explained. Regarding the eleven for the final, Luis Enrique did not want to reveal his plans. He was humorous when they asked him about the lineup: “What do you want, to give clues to the opponent?”
