Mauro Icardi, without team
The Argentine striker Mauro Icardi33 years old, leaves Galatasaraycurrent champion of the Turkish league, after three and a half seasons at the club, as announced this Thursday by the entity. “Dear Mauro, today we are not talking about a farewell but about a legacy,” the club writes on its website.
“The fact that you will no longer wear the Galatasaray shirt will never change the place you occupy in our hearts. You have earned a place in the hearts of all Galatasaray fans, young and old,” the note adds.
The club added that, beyond his goals, scoring titles, records and trophies, Icardi embodied the spirit of Galatasaray and inspired millions of fans, underlining that his link with the entity will never be forgotten.
The forward arrived at Galatasaray on loan from Paris Saint-Germain in October 2022 and, at the end of the first season in Istanbul, he signed permanently in an operation valued at 10 million euros. During his three and a half seasons at the club, he won three Turkish Super League titles, one Turkish Cup and one Turkish Super Cup.
In addition, he finished as the league’s top scorer in the 2023-2024 season with 25 goals. The Argentine striker scored 77 goals in 134 games for Galatasaray, surpassing the club’s all-time record of 72 goals held by legendary Romanian midfielder Gheorghe Hagi.
