France takes the most memorable Six Nations in recent years
Francewho beat England in the last minute of the match at the Stade de France in Paris, thus revalidated the Six Nations, a championship marked in this edition by the surprising performances of all the teams.
The Gauls, who started as favorites to win all the matches and, in this way, win the “Grand Slam”, lost in Edinburgh against Scotland on the penultimate date after a memorable match where Up to ninety points were scored. The XV del Gallo reached the last day leaving the tournament open against Ireland and Scotland.
Fabien GalthiĆ©’s team received England in Paris on the last day, where victory was only worth it if they wanted to win the tournament. At the end of the game, Ireland were champions, but a penalty shot with time already expired that was converted by French defender Thomas Ramos gave the French team the victory and, therefore, the championship before the euphoria of the Stade de France.
For its part, Englandone of the favorites after being undefeated for more than a year, only achieved one victory against Wales before reaching the last day, in which it had the objective of saving its damaged reputation against France.
This was demonstrated in the French fiefdom. A combative England, absent during the tournament, fell with honors, putting the locals on the ropes and were about to spoil their party after losing the match in the last minute.
Irelandfor its part, concludes the Six Nations with a path that went from less to more after losing on the first day against France showing a very poor game and beating Italy with doubts. Far from the first two days, Andy Farrel’s team came back from the situation and managed to win the Triple Crown after beating England, Wales and Scotland, which allowed them to reach the last day with options for the title.
Gonzalo Quesada’s Italian team can boast of having competed in this edition with each of the teams it has faced. They began with a declaration of intent by beating Scotland on the first day and added the first victory in their entire history against the English team, demonstrating that the “azzurra” has entered the elite of world rugby to stay.
On the other hand, Scotland ends a journey full of ups and downs in which they began by losing to Italy and later vindicated themselves against the XV de la Rosa and surprised all of Europe with a great victory against France. Tied on points with the Gauls on the last day, the Caledonians fell resoundingly against Ireland to say goodbye to their chances of the title.
Finally, Wales, which started as the worst team, began the tournament with the aim of surviving against the great European powers. The first two days were overwhelming for the dragons after suffering heavy defeats against England and France.
Subsequently, they raised their heads, showed improvement in the following dates, and beat Italy, thus avoiding the “wooden spoon”, an award given to the team that loses all of its matches and that had been falling to Cardiff for two consecutive years.
