ASVEL goes with everything: Parker confirms a star desired by Barça and four more signings

The appointment of Tony Parker as coach of ASVEL Villeurbanne It was confirmed yesterday by the French club itself, which seems willing to support its new era with a record investment.

According to L’EquipeASVEL has presented a projected operating budget of 58 million euros and a salary bill for players of 20 million euros for next season, figures that would make it the largest budget in the history of French basketball, as the club seeks to establish itself among the European elite ahead of the proposed NBA Europe project.

As also confirmed yesterday, Parker has signed a 2+1 contractbut in your mind it’s there for the long haul:

“I signed for two years plus a third. But my commitment to ASVEL is very long-term. My contract is not for ten years, but I have a ten-year moral agreement with ASVEL!”

That ambition is already reflected in the squad. Parker himself confirmed, in one fell swoop, the five new reinforcements for an ASVEL that will bear little resemblance to the one that finished bottom of the Euroleague this past season, with a record of 8-30: neither more nor less than Sylvain Francisco, Nick Weiler-Babb, Daniel Theis, Armoni Brooks and Both Gach.

About the French point guard from Zalgiris Kaunas, one of the most desired players in the entire Euroleague and, at the time, Barça’s priority objective to reinforce the base positionParker highlighted the importance of his incorporation: “I wanted a franchise player and Sylvain Francisco was my first choice. He has that characteristic French DNA. It’s incredible that we managed to convince him,” Parker told L’Équipe.

Regarding the other incorporations, the exNBA stated that “Daniel Theis is a key signing for us. He brings a lot of experience, and in the locker room, that changes everything. With Armoni Brooks, we have signed one of the best point guards in the Euroleague. We have also closed the agreements with Nick Weiler-Babb and Both Gach,” Parker concluded.

Tony Parker also confirmed the incorporation of the veteran coach Vincent Collettformer French coach for many years, to his coaching staff as offensive coordinator.

“It is a privilege and a great opportunity to have Vincent Collet as an assistant. I couldn’t have dreamed of a better way to start, and it gives credibility to my project,” concluded an excited Parker.
