A ‘cover’ appears to unravel the transfer of Antetokounmpo

For months now, the more than possible departure of Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks has been one of the most recurring topics around the NBA. He was last summer, dropping the New York Knicks as his possible favorite destination if he left, and he has also been this throughout a tumultuous season with the Bucks, in which he was already involved in rumors before the trade deadline.

After ending the season without the Playoffs and accumulating multiple injuries, the Greek’s departure is once again on everyone’s lips, although this time it seems that Milwaukee is more willing to part ways with its star. Although yes, not at any price, something that they have already made known to the respective interested parties.

One of those that seems best placed to acquire Giannis’ services are the Miami Heat, a common team when it comes to trying to catch a star in troubled waters. They do not usually do so successfully, as their immobility or supposed low offers end up leaving them in no man’s land. However, according to the latest information, on this occasion they seem to be serious about achieving their objective of carrying out an operation that appears to be very laborious for all parties involved.

A priori, and barring a major earthquake, the Miami Heat and Milwaukee Bucks seem destined to reach an agreement in the coming days or, in any case, weeks. But to do so, they would need third or even fourth players to make a ‘mega-trade’ for Antetokounmpo viable, one that would end up involving several players to balance salaries and other complements, such as future first or second round draft picks.

That is why, once we sit down to negotiate with Giannis Antetokounmpo as the main piece of the operation, secondary actors have to appear. And one of the ‘covered ones’ that has gained strength in recent hours to ‘help’ the Heat and Bucks are the Detroit Pistons, as revealed by journalists Marc Stein and Ku Khahil in recent days.

Apparently, as part of that movement, the Pistons would receive Tyler Herro as part of the transfer, although without revealing further details of the pieces involved for now. In the words of Khahil himself, from ‘Locked On Pistons’, the arrival of the Michigan guard “has been gaining strength” in recent hours. In turn, Stein dropped the name of Isaiah Stewart as one of the possible players included in the operation for Giannis.

In the absence of knowing more details, the Pistons could find a great complement for Cade Cunningham for next season, thus improving their outside rotation, which is one of their pending issues for the next season. Despite being hampered by physical problems in 2025-26, Herro recorded averages of 20.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.1 assists in 33 games played with the Heat.
