The 2026 season of the Major Leagues begins to leave interesting data in just its first days of action and that is MLB revealed that of the 948 players included in the list among the 26-man rosters for Opening Dayon the injured list or on restricted lists, 247 of these, which represents 26.1 percent of the total players, were born outside the USA.

Generally speaking, the Atlanta Braves and San Diego Padres lead the pack of Major League organizations with 15 foreign-born players each, breaking the streak of five consecutive seasons in which the Houston Astros led the way.
The latter have 14 international players and are followed by the Arizona Diamondbacks and Miami Marlins with 13 each, the Seattle Mariners with 12 and both the Boston Red Sox and the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets and San Francisco Giants have 11 international players on their Opening Day rosters.
The Braves are also the team with the greatest variety of countries represented on their roster with eight, followed by the Padres and Astros with seven, while the Red Sox, Colorado Rockies, Mariners and Toronto Blue Jays each have six countries represented.
