Athletics: Brent Rooker goes to the homework derby

Brent Rooker is the first Athletics player to participate in the home run from Matt Olson in 2021

West Sacramento, California – The toleter of Athletics, Brent Rooker, joins the list of participants from the home run.

Rooker announced on Thursday his participation in the event that will be held on Monday in Atlanta. It will become the first Athletics player to participate in the home run from Matt Olson in 2021.

“Competing in the home runs has always been a dream for me,” Rooker said in an Instagram post. “I can’t wait for the next week to happen in Atlanta! See you there!”

Rooker, 30, arrived on Thursday with an average batting of .270, 19 home runs and 50 ranges, which places him on the way to a third consecutive season of at least 30 homers. He connected 30 home runs in 2023 and 39 in 2024.

His 58 homers since the beginning of the 2024 season place him in third place among all the players of the American League.

The only Athletics who won the derby were Mark McGwire In 1992 and Yoenis Céspedes in 2013 and 2014.

Other announced participants are Ronald Acuña Jr. de Atlanta, Byron Buxton from Minnesota, Junior Caminero de Tampa Bay, Oneil Cruz de Pittsburgh, Cal Raleigh of Seattle and James Wood of Washington.
