0-1: Montevideo City Torque, one step away from the quarterfinals

Montevideo City Torque achieved a valuable 0-1 victory this Wednesday against Tiger as a visitor corresponding to the first leg of the round of 16 of the South American Cup. In a match with the majority of the public against it at the José Dellagiovanna Stadium, the Uruguayan team led by Marcelo Méndez won with Franco Pizzichillo’s solitary goal in the 52nd minute.

In the first stage, the ‘Matador de Victoria’ dominated the actions and had their opportunities with the Paraguayan Alfio Oviedo, Nahuel Banegas and Joaquín Laso, while ‘Los Celestes’ had a deflected shot from Eduardo Agüero.

At the start of the complement, more precisely in the 52nd minute, the only goal of the game came with a cross from the left side that found only Ezequiel Busquets who gave a pass to the arrival of Franco Pizzichillo, who resolved with a shot that deflected off Nahuel Banegas to end up in the back of the net.

Those led by Diego Davobe did not find the formula in the remaining minutes to reach the tie and could even finish with two goals down in an action by Salomón Rodríguez that found a reaction from goalkeeper Felipe Zenobia and then Joaquín Laso cut Diogo Guzman to prevent his shot centimeters from the goal.

The rematch will be played next Wednesday in Montevideo with an advantage for ‘Torque’, while Tigre will have to go for the heroic and reverse this adverse result as a visitor.
