Xhaka and Embolo return after falsifying Covid certificates

The Swiss Football Association (ASF) announced today the end of the exclusion of two of the team’s main starsforward Breel Embolo and midfielder Granit Xhaka, after four games sidelined for having falsified Covid vaccination certificates.

Both will be able to play the two Nations League games in November, against Slovenia and Scotlandand are on the preliminary list of those called up, waiting for the coach Murat Yakin announce the final names on November 5, as reported by the ASF this Tuesday in a statement.

Xhaka is still the captain

The Swiss Federation “has carried out an exhaustive analysis of both cases and has come to the conclusion that the return of the two players is possible once the judicial procedures have been concluded and taking into account the sporting consequences they have suffered.”

The ASF also noted that Xhaka will remain the captain of the team.

Without two of its main figures, Switzerland ended the first four games of the Nations League with victories and comfortably leads group E of League B after having been relegated in the previous edition.

The ‘Nati’ will face the Slovenians at home on November 13, in Maribor, and will play the last match of the league on November 16 against the Scots in Saint Gallen.
