Van der Vaart criticized Vinicius for “falling down and getting up as if nothing had happened”
The former Dutch footballer Rafael Van der Vaart charged against the player of the real Madrid Vinicius for “getting down and getting up as if nothing had happened” during Tuesday’s Champions League tie between the white club and Bayern Munich.
“I think it’s a shame, because he is a very good player, yes, and it would be better not to have to talk about this. But he gets on your nerves because he gets a little push, falls to the ground, then gets up as if nothing had happened and on top of that he wants the opponent to get a red card. All nonsense,” Van der Vaart said during a post-match television show on Dutch network Ziggosport.
The former Dutch international and ex-Madrid player thus joined the criticism for faking on the pitch against the Brazilian winger, who was also whistled by the local public after missing a clear shot when Real Madrid lost 2-0 in the first leg of the quarterfinals, which ended with a score of 2-1.
Van der Vaart, who also played for Real Betis or Tottenham Hotspurhas made several controversial statements since he retired from professional football in 2018 and began working as a sports commentator.
