The Uruguayan women’s team could not beat the locals in the debut of the World Cup in India and lost 4 to 0.

With goals from Sunelita Toppo at 21, Ishika at 41, Lalremsiami at 49 and Rutuja Dadaso at the end, at 58, the locals won against the Americans and they are pressured to earn points in the next matches if they want to advance to the semifinals. These are two groups of four countries and those who come in first and second place become among the four best and continue in the race to obtain the World Cup place.

How is the action going for the Uruguayan team? This Monday, March 9, they will meet Welsh at 8:45 (Uruguay time) and will finish the group stage against Scotland on Wednesday the 11th also at 8:45.

The first three countries of each Pre-World Cup qualify directly for the 2026 World Cup. In the one that ends this Sunday in Santiago de Chile, for women, Australia and Chile have already qualified. Whoever takes the bronze (Ireland vs. Japan) will also have their place assured. Additionally, the 4th best ranked between both competitions will complete the table.
