This is how Iga Swiatek’s WTA ranking remained after her elimination from Indian Wells

There was a result that could bring movements in the highest part of the world ranking of the WTA circuit. In the Indian Wells quarterfinals, Elina Svitolina defeated Iga Swiatek in an even match 6-2, 4-6, 6-4, in just over two hours of play.

This result brings a loss of points for Swiatek, who in 2025 had reached the semifinals (with a loss to Mirra Andreeva). In this way, starting next week, the Polish tennis player will lose 175 units in the world ranking and there are two players who can pass her.

It should be remembered that she is currently number 2 on the planet, only below Aryna Sabalenka, who has a good difference: Elena Rybakina (3rd) and Jessica Pegula (5th) can take second place from her.

Both face each other in their respective quarterfinal match. If Rybakina wins and advances to the semi-finals, she will already be No. 2. However, in Pegula’s case, she will only do so if she is California champion.
