The Thunder remained undefeated, the Warriors vindicated themselves and the Bulls came back to win
Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Los Angeles Clippers 126-107 this Tuesday and extended their unbeatable start to the season to 8-0. Besides, Golden State Warriors beat Phoenix Suns 118-107 after two painful away defeats in the East, while Chicago Bulls came back from a game they lost by 24 points and beat the Philadelphia 76ers 113-111.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander contributed 30 points and 12 assists for the champion, who extended his winning streak to eight at the start of the season.
Isaiah Joe added 22 points, while Cason Wallace and Aaron Wiggins each added 12 to help the Thunder withstand a strong start from the Clippers and set a franchise record for consecutive wins to start a season.
Gilgeous-Alexander, who played for the Clippers in his rookie season before being traded to the Thunder, was 9 of 14 from the field and 4 of 5 from 3-point range.
James Harden scored 25 points and John Collins added 17 for the Clippers, who were without Kawhi Leonard (ankle injury) and Bradley Beal (knee) as they played their second straight night at home.
The Warriors’ recovery
The Warriors (5-3) camp had begun to get nervous after the losses in Milwaukee and Indianapolis, but, back at the Chase Center, Stephen Curry and company vindicated themselves against the Suns (3-5) who failed to consolidate.
With 38 points from Devin Booker, the Suns had within reach a game in which they had been 25 down, but Curry and Moses Moody, with 28 and 24 points, respectively, were able to seal the victory and compensate for the departure of Jimmy Butler, who did not play a single minute in the second half due to his discomfort.
Vucevic, Bulls hero
The Chicago Bulls (6-1) beat the Philadelphia 76ers (5-2) in a game that they lost by 24 points and in which they did not take the lead until the last three seconds.
At the United Center the two best teams in the Eastern Conference faced each other, tied with 5 wins and 1 loss. Chicago emerged victorious from the duel and is now the sole leader.
After overcoming that 24-point deficit, it was Montenegrin Nikola Vucevic with a clean triple from a corner that worked a miracle for the Bulls led one more night by Josh Giddeywho would sign a triple-double (29 points, 15 rebounds and 12 assists).
Philadelphia had overwhelmed the Bulls with 45 points in the first quarter, but collapsed in the second half, scoring just 36 points and without making a single field goal in the last six and a half minutes of the game.
Tyrese Maxey was the game’s leading scorer with 39 points, but he had a very weak final quarter when his team needed him most.
The Raptors stopped Giannis
Toronto Raptors (4-4) won their third straight victory by defeating the Milwaukee Bucks (5-3) 128-100 with 23 points each from Scottie Barnes and RJ Barrett.
The Raptors knew how to contain Giannis Antetokounmpo, who had to be content with 22 points and 8 rebounds.
The Canadians shot more and were more accurate both in the paint and from the perimeter and the free throw line. Additionally, they outrebounded the Bucks (50-41), steals (8-5) and blocks (6-4), and committed fewer turnovers (9-12).
In New Orleans, The Pelicans achieved their first victory of the season by beating Charlotte Hornets 116-112while Atlanta Hawks beat Orlando Magic 127-112.
