The first three stages will take place from May 9 to 11 in Durrës, Tirana and Vlorë.

The Giro is one of the three most prestigious cycling competitions in Europe, along with the Tour de France and the Return to Spain.

“I have always said that Albania is little Italy and now we really are Italy on the other side of the sea, a country that hosts an event that is not only sporting,” Rama said.

He added that this event will further improve the tourism offer of his country, which receives millions of visitors each year on the coasts of the Adriatic and Ionian Sea.

According to official data from Tirana, last year Albania was visited by more than 11 million foreign tourists.
