The president of City, forceful: “This process still has a long way to go”

The president of Manchester City, Khaldoon Al Mubarak, This Saturday it published a statement in which it stated that the club is confident of proving its innocence in the case of the 115 financial irregularities of which it was accused by the Premier League.

““This is what I have to tell you: the process with the Premier League still has a long way to go and our confidence and intention in proving the club’s innocence is as strong as at the beginning,” Al Mubarak said in the letter.

“There are many things I would like to share with you so that you understand why I feel so confident, but the confidentiality of the legal process and our determination to respect it means that I cannot at the moment. Even this letter has had to go through many legal checks,” Al Mubarak added.

“While many people have jumped very quickly to drawing their own conclusions, nothing has changed. We face these challenges together and we emerge from them. “There are many people who want to harm the club and we will not give them that opportunity.”

On Friday ‘The Athletic’ was the first media to report that City has been found guilty by an independent court in 114 of the 115 financial irregularities of which the Premier League accused it in February 2023.

City is, consequently, waiting for a sanction, which could range from the loss of points, to relegation, expulsion from the competition or a financial fine.
