The new mandatory rule for the short corner

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) decided to make the use of masks for players who defend the short corner, and will have to be implemented immediately for official competitions.

Likewise, the regulations of the Federation will be adjusted, so that the referees have flexibility over time before the execution, so that the players can have the time to put the different protections.

FIH president said about it: “I am convinced that this decision is correct. We respect the fact that it will not always be able to implement in all the tournaments that are not of the FIH, and we recommend that the global community of the hockey include this measure in its own competitions, or implement alternative solutions to protect their players in these situations.”
