The Lions beat Ireland with an agonizing goal
The Albiceleste team defeated the European country with a goal in the last second in the match played in Santiago del Estero for the 2024/25 Pro League. Tomás Domene sealed the match with a drag at the end.
The first quarter began with a lot of dynamics on the part of both teams, but control of the ball went to Los Leones. Although the Irish twice reached the Argentine area with good strikes, the goalkeeper’s response Joaquín Ruiz, one of those who debuted today with the senior shirt, was better and avoided the goals of those led by Neville Rothman.
The second period was similar to the first fifteen minutes. Those led by Lucas Rey achieved good connections in the attack, one of them was the combination between Lautaro Domene’s flick, Tadeo Marcucci’s reception and Tomás Domene’s punch which went close to the post of the Irishman James Milliken, but the scoreboard still did not open in the first stage of the match.
The dynamic faded in the second half, and although the attacks on the opposing area were clearer on the part of the Argentinians, they were unable to convert the first penalty corner into a goal. Tomás Domene shot at the goal with a push but the ball went very close to the goal.
The last quarter was very similar to what happened in the entire game. The good control of the ball by both teams was the characteristic of the matchbut neither of them could open the scoring. Until the last second of the match, when Iñaki Minadeo’s flick into the Irish area turned into a penalty corner as Lucas Martínez had won the position. With the game overTomás Domene from Córdoba changed that penalty for an agonizing drag goal and Los Leones won the second match this season of the international tournament.
