He French Formula 1 driver Esteban Ocon has been separated by haas facing the Mexican Grand Prix and will be replaced by the Japanese reserve pilot Ryo Hirakawa (32 years old)as reported by his own team on social networks.
“TGR Haas F1 Team reserve driver Ryō Hirakawa will replace Esteban Ocon for the remainder of the Mexico City Grand Prix this weekend. Ryō participated in the first free practice session (FP1) on Friday at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez – his third free practice appearance this season behind the wheel of the VF-26 – where he finished in 15th position. The Japanese driver will partner his teammate, Ollie Bearman, in the last free practice session and in qualifying, as well as in Sunday’s Grand Prix – which will consist of 71 laps -, which will mark Ryō’s debut in a Formula 1 race. For the moment, no further statements will be made.
Ocon (30 years old) signed for haas in the month of July 2024 and this season his best result was eighth place in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Yesterday, the French driver in FP2 had an exchange of impressions over the radio with his engineer, Laura Mueller, over the choice of tires. He wanted to continue with the soft ones and the team asked him to switch to the medium ones to work on the long runs; but it is not known if this exchange of opinions was the trigger for the situation.
