Taylor Fritz, on the positive wave after beating Musetti in the ATP Finals: “I like the conditions; it’s very easy to motivate myself”
Taylor Fritz, No. 6 in the world, started with a victory in the ATP Finals, the tournament that brings together the best of the season in Turin. And he enjoys it.
The American defeated the Italian Lorenzo Musetti, 9th in the ranking, 6-3 and 6-4 in a match of one hour and 42 minutes at the Inalpi Arena. With this result, it equals Carlos Alcaraz at the top of the Jimmy Connors Group, which also includes Alex De Minaur.
“I am very glad. I think I did a lot of things very well,” Fritz said. “At the beginning of the match I played very well, serving out of trouble and saving some break points. Throughout the second set I played well and had many opportunities to break that I couldn’t take advantage of. I am very happy that I was able to serve until the end and that the break did not ruin the game for me.”
“Every time I come here, I like the conditions and it’s very easy to motivate myself”said Fritz when asked about his level in Turin. “You can concentrate as much as possible, it is the last tournament of the year and it is the ATP Finals, it is something very important.”
Fritz starts as the leader of the group along with Carlos Alcaraz, who overtook Alex De Minaur. In this first phase of the competition, tennis players are divided into two groups of four players each, and the best two advance to the semifinals.
Also this Monday, Jannik Sinner will take the field in Group Björn Borg against Félix Auger- Aliassime.
All the ATP Finals activity can be followed LIVE, and exclusively, on the AM850 and Disney+ Premium Plan screens.
