Chicago (AP)-Garrett crochet struck out 11 in seven 1/3 entries in their first opening against their former team, and the Boston Red Sox beat the Chicago White Sox on Sunday 3-1 to avoid a sweep in the series.

Trevor Story connected a two -run double and a solo home run for Boston, which had lost five of six. Alex Bregman had two hits and scored a race.

Crochet (2-1) lost its attempted game without hits when Chase Meidroth connected a single with an out in the eighth. The Ace Zurdo was removed after Meidroth’s roleto went to the left garden.

Crochet was changed from the White Sox to the Red Sox in December by a package of four prospects that included Meidroth.

Matt Thaiss connected a simple driver against Garrett Whitlock, but Joshua Palacios struck out and Cuban Miguel Vargas raised to the left garden.

Story connected his third homer in the ninth, and Cuban Aroldis Chapman took three outs for his third rescue.

Shane Smith (0-1) launched six two-run inputs for Chicago.

For the Red Sox, the Mexico American Jarren Durán, 5-1.
