Each country with a reserved and achieved place must have participation in the elite category to avoid having a zero and for that to affect its presence in future World Cups, Europeans and Olympic Games. Slovakia’s solution has been to choose its masseuse, Vladimir Kovacik, 28 years old and who has a license to runso that you participate in the test regardless of the result you have to comply with the UCI requirement.

Kovacik already competed between 2014 and 2017 but he hasn’t gotten on a bike for an elite race in nine years.

In this way, Slovakia avoids relegationsince without participants in the race they would reduce the points by half of their country and since 2027 is the year before the Los Angeles Games they would have almost said goodbye to the Olympic dream.

Slovakia is a country with a cycling tradition and between 2015 and 2017 it had a world champion, Peter Sagan, who won three consecutive titles.
