Sebastian Vettel invited everyone to draw in Brazil

The German, four-time F1 champion, appeared at the San Pablo GP with the ecological campaign to take care of the world’s trees.

Far from that hyper-competitive driver who swept Formula 1 for four years (2010-2013), Sebastian Vettel is these days. The German, who dominated the World Championship during his time at Red Bull and could not have the pleasure of being champion with Ferrari, is dedicated to environmental care programs. And so He came to Brazil for the São Paulo GP, the 21st round of the World Cup to lead the F1 Forest campaign, for the care of trees.

Seb was located in a rather humble pipe stand, with the t-shirt that identified the program, right next to the central entrance to the paddock. There, with a blank sheet of paper and colored pencils, the German invited everyone who passed by to draw a tree. There were large, medium and small leaves, it depended on the size that each one wanted to make. Journalists, the general public and pilots passed by. Franco Colapinto and Pierre Gasly, the Alpine duo, came to the stand to make their little tree. Vettel went to the Red Bull hospitality and Max Verstappen and Yuki Tsunoda did theirs. There were also Gabriel Bortoletto, Valtteri Bottas, Liam Lawson, Isack Hadjar… Vettel, of course, is a center of attention in a paddock.

“When you draw a tree you start to realize how much we depend on nature and how much it depends on us,” Vettel explained. “I wanted to help and with the F1 Forest project I thought it was very good. By simply drawing a tree we can help the future, raise awareness,” he added. And he pointed to the Amazon, the largest tropical forest in the world. “Amazon is very important for the planet. We must take care of it for this generation and for the next ones.”

Vettel’s smile never ended. He walked through an F1 paddock again with another, very different objective: ecology. “If we can draw attention from a race it will be important. It’s about benefiting the planet to have a good place and do something good together.”
