Rules Change: This is the new Disciplinary Process of World Rugby

World Rugby is testing a new, simple and faster Disciplinary procedure that began to apply in the party they played England XV and France XV On Twickenham on Saturday, June 21, with an adjusted victory of the Gauls by 26-24, and that will continue in its experimentation phase during the tour that the British & Irish Lions are facing Oceania.

The new disciplinary process for any player who receives a red card or quoted will work as follows:

Stage 1: An independent committee of dirty play review, composed of three people, will meet remotely within 24 hours at the end of the game, or the day of the same, to evaluate any relevant incident and propose a sanction to the player. The incidents that the Committee considers will be publicly confirmed by World Rugby before the meeting.

Stage 2: A player can choose to accept or not the proposed sanction within a short period.

Stage 3: If the player does not accept the sanction, the matter will be sent to an independent disciplinary committee, which will issue a definitive sanction. The result of the independent disciplinary committee hearing will be published by World Rugby. The dirty play review committee may decide to send the incident to the disciplinary committee without having made a decision, for example, if the incident is serious, in cases of abuse to a party officer, etc. Only in these circumstances, the player may appeal the decision of the Disciplinary Committee before an Appeals Committee.

Due to the nature of a tour like the British and Irish Lions by Australia with Entresemana matches, the dirty game review committee will meet within 20 hours after the end of the match in question. If hearings of the Independent Disciplinary Committee will be required, these will be held within 48 hours later at the end of the party. The deadline for submitting citations in all cases will be reduced to 12 hours after the final whistle.
