Ricardo Ten and Manuela Vos lead the team at the World Paralympic Road Championships in Alabama

A total of 17 Spanish runners face from this Friday until next Monday the 7th Huntsville Paralympic Road Cycling World Championships (Alabama, United States)), which will bring together 341 men and women from 48 countries in 53 medal events in different categories: conventional bicycles, hand bicycles, tricycles and tandems.

The call of the national coach, Begoña Luis, combines experience and youth and is committed to expanding female participation with respect to previous events. In the bicycle category it will have Ricardo Ten (MC1), Luis Javier Arcega and Maurice Eckhard (MC2), Eduardo Santas and Juan Alberto Jiménez (MC3), Damián Ramos (MC4) and Verónica Rodríguez (WC2).

The Spanish representatives on tricycles will be Gonzalo García Abella (MT1) and Antonio Prieto (MT2)while on hand bikes they will be Manuela Vos (WH1), Eva Moral (WH4), Luis Miguel García-Marquina and Héctor Esturillo (MH3). The expedition is completed with two tandems: Joan Sansó-Eloy Teruel and Imanol Arriortua-Mikel Aristi (MB).

In this list, the two cyclists who arrive in Huntsville with the rainbow jersey especially stand out. Ricardo Tenwho will defend the world time trial title won in Ronse (Belgium) 2025, where she also won the silver medal in the online test, and Manuela Vos, who will try to repeat the double from the last World Cup, when she won both the time trial and the road test. Furthermore, at that event, Joan Sansó and Eloy Teruel achieved runners-up in the online test for runners with visual disabilities.

As for the newest ones, it should be noted that Juan Alberto Jiménez, Verónica Rodríguez, Antonio Prieto, Manuela Vos, Héctor Esturillo and Imanol Arriortua are part of the Cofidis Paralympic Cycling Promises Teama joint initiative of the Spanish Paralympic committee and the Royal Spanish Cycling Federation which tries to select the athletes with the greatest projection to promote their careers towards the highest level, putting at their disposal all the material and human resources.

The competition in Alabama will begin on Friday, September 4, with individual time trials for handbikes and tricycles, while on Saturday, September 5, it will be the turn of bicycles and tandems. The online tests will take place on days 6 and 7 with the same distribution by categories.
