Parents add Mason Miller and JP Sears from A’s, Fuentes
Parents are adding to their talented bullpen to Mason Miller flamethrowers in an exchange with athletics.
The San Diego Padres will acquire Mason Miller in an exchange with the Athletics, according to sources to Jeff Passan de AM850, which adds the powerful reliever to their talented Bullpen.
Parents will also receive the Zurdo JP Sears opener in the agreement, while the athletics will be made with the leagues under 18 years Leodalis de Vries, the prospect N.3 of baseball, and the right -handed pitchers Braden Nett, Henry Báez and Eduarniel Núñez, Fuentes reported to Passan.
Miller, 26, has 20 rescues and an effectiveness of 3.76 in 38 appearances this season. His line has averaged 101.1 mph this campaign.
A month ago, executives’ perception was that athletics would not exchange Miller.
But relay market prices have triggered, which makes it more attractive to athletics to exchange Miller. Miller, 26, has 59 strikeouts in 38⅓ tickets, with an effectiveness of 3.76. Sears has a 7-9 mark and an effectiveness of 4.95, and parents believe that it will contribute depth, which will potentially allow them to transfer the opener Dylan Cease.
Miller, who was an All-Star for athletics in 2024, joins the Bullpen of San Diego that already has two All-Star right-handed pitchers: the closer Robert Suarez and the coach Jason Adam.
Suárez, who leads the major leagues with 30 salvages, could also be exchanged before the deadline on Thursday. San Diego has been in conversations with other teams about Suárez, in a market in which the Seattle Mariners, the Detroit Tigres, Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Yankees seek reinforcements for the Bullpen, and the Hosuton Astros, Chicago Cubs and New York Mets seek reinforcements for rotation.
Parents have also had extensive conversations with the Boston Red Sox about Jarren Duran and with the Cleveland Guardians about Steven Kwan.
