Official: Brazil renews with F1 until 2035
The Formula 1 announced this Saturday the renewal of the contract of the José Carlos Pace Autodrome, known as the Interlagos circuit, with F1 until 2035.
The iconic Brazilian track had already secured its presence on the F1 calendar until 2030 after its previous renovation, signed in 2023. But three years later, F1 made a new signature official for five more years, that is, until 2035 (including).
Interlagos is one of the most loved circuits by F1 fans, a route with very particular characteristics that offers races full of emotionovertaking and fighting, offering the possibility of attack and response in the same turn to the pilots fighting a battle in a race in which the weather can also surprise in the form of rain.
The passion of his fans, which has filled the stands of the Autódromo José Carlos Pace since Friday, and the enormous history of this trackare other elements why this iconic route shines so much. And for all this, the official announcement made by F1 this Saturday is very good news for the highest category of world motorsport.
Aside from the history and beauty of this track, Formula 1 highlighted the importance of the growth of the Brazilian market for this category, which in 2027 will have two official drivers from Brazil on the grid (Bortoleto, in Audi, and Camara, in Haas).
“F1 continues to grow strongly in Brazil and maintains great momentum, with a fan base of 75.8 million people, 6.5% more than in 2024. 44% of those followers are women and 41% are under 35 years old. In addition, the sport has nearly 5.5 million Brazilian followers on its social media channels,” the statement of the agreement points out.
“Over the last five years, the São Paulo Grand Prix has recorded a constant increase in attendanceuntil reaching 303,627 spectators in 2025, compared to 291,717 the previous year. Formula 1 also generates a significant economic impact both in the local community and in the region as a whole. The 2025 Grand Prix had an economic impact of 2.3 billion Brazilian reais for São Paulo, 9.7% more than the previous record, established in 2024,” the text highlights.
“The new five-year extension reflects the continued commitment of the city of São Paulo and the Grand Prix promoter to the future of the event. As part of the agreement, the São Paulo City Council, led by Mayor Ricardo Nunes, will continue to make significant investments to offer a world-class show and further improve the fan experience and guests for years to come,” the statement added.
Domenicali: “Brazil is fundamental in F1”
“Brazil is a fundamental part of the history of Formula 1 and also of our future, and I am delighted that this five-year extension allows us to continue competing in São Paulo until 2035. The passion of the Brazilian fans is extraordinary and, every time we return to Interlagos, we feel their energy in the stands and throughout the city of São Paulo,” commented the CEO of Liberty Media, the company that owns F1, Stefano Domenicali.
“Brazil has given Formula 1 no less than 33 drivers, including Gabriel Bortoleto and Rafael Câmara, who compete in front of their home fans this weekend, adding to the many unforgettable moments we have already experienced in São Paulo. The continued success of the event and the excitement it generates demonstrate why it occupies such a special place on our calendar. This agreement reaffirms our long-term commitment to Brazil,” commented the Italian.
