F1’s expilot spoke about the news of the Argentine, who this year returned to the category with the Alpine team.

Nelsinho Piquet ran 28 races in Formula 1, added a podium and left after being ceased by the Renault team. Once outside the category, the Brazilian denounced the case that would later be known as El Crashgate, an event that occurred in the 2008 Singapore GP and ended with sanctions for Pat Symonds and Flavio Briatore. Beyond not being more part of the World Cup, the son of the Tricampeón Nelson is still linked because he is the brother -in -law of Max Verstappen (Kelly Piquet is the Dutch couple). He currently runs in TCR South American and in the stock Car in Brazil. In recent days, Nelsinho participated in the podcast Pelas and asked him for an opinion about the walk of Franco Colapinto after the three races he played with Alpine.

The Brazilian made a comparison between the Argentine and Daniel Ricciardo, who after leaving McLaren returned as a reserve of Red Bull and was anointed as head of Alpha Tauri in the final stretch of the World Cup and continued in 2024 in Racing Bulls. But the Australian was not competitive and the popes of the Austrian house lowered him. “What distinguishes Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, Max Verstappen, is that they have a little more talent, but the big difference is their mentality. Daniel Ricciardo did not lose his talent, he lost the mentality,” said Piquet.

And there was the comparison with Colapint: “It seems that Colapinto lost his mentality. It is not slow, because he already demonstrated it at the beginning, without any experience in the F1, in three consecutive classifications. He is not dumb. But then, something disrupts his head and, unfortunately, there is a point where the strongest, aggressive and safe minds are the ones that triumph“, complete.
