Nairo Quintana renews with Movistar until 2025
The Colombian Nairo Quintana will continue with Movistar for the 2025 season, marking a total of 10 years with the only Spanish team on the World Tour.
Quintana has the purpose “to continue fighting in each competition, contribute all their experience and score the maximum points for the team”
He returned to Movistar in 2024 after a period of 8 seasons in the Spanish squad and 3 in the French Arkea. Last season he had a complicated start due to illnesses and injuries, and in the Giro he finished in 19th place. In the Livigno stage he was second, only surpassed by Pogacar.
“2024 has been a nice year. Personally I had some setbacks throughout the season, starting with COVID, followed by a broken sternum and then a metacarpal fracture in my right hand. These mishaps, along with some more falls, meant that “I didn’t reach 100% in the important moments, but we were able to get up and do a quick rehabilitation to help the team,” he added
For next year their goal is to have more continuity on the calendar.
“Fight face to face in each competition and take Enric Mas as high as possible in the three-week races. Throughout the season we will also focus on achieving the highest possible score, being the last year of this classification cycle and being able to keep the team in the best position”, ended.
