Nairo Quintana, current and with his sights set on a decisive 2026
Nairo Quintana A new year begins with motivation intact and eyes focused on the great competitions on the international calendar. In exclusive dialogue with AM850 Ciclismo, the Colombian cyclist took stock of the previous seasonspoke about his physical condition and confirmed that one of his main objectives is to be back in the Return to Spain.
“The start will be in Spain, then I will travel to the United Arab Emirates and later I will race in Italy, among other competitions. “We are training well and preparing ourselves in the best way for what is coming,” Quintana explained about the start of his calendar.
Regarding 2025, the man from Boyacá acknowledged that he is always looking for more, but highlighted the end of the season: “I finished with good pace, doing important races in Italy and helping the team. “That motivates me to continue training hard and take advantage of this beginning of the year.”
Nairo also referred to the physical moment and one of the situations that marked his last year: the fall in Burgos. “The sadness of 2025 was that fall that prevented me from reaching the Vuelta a España when it was in good condition. But crying over spilled milk is of no use. I feel good, I continue pedaling hard and we are going to enjoy 2026.”
Regarding his role within the team, he was clear: “If I didn’t continue fighting for victories and to be ahead, I wouldn’t train. I work all year to be at a high point of performance, help the team and meet some personal objectives.”
Finally, he confirmed that the Vuelta a España continues to be a central goal: “It is the most important race for the team and you need to arrive with the strongest men. I will be working to earn that place.”
