UAE, for example, has great support and that allows them to have the best runners in the world. It is part of today’s reality.”

In this context, he stressed the importance of not losing focus on regional development: “In Latin America we have the raw materialbut we need more support from companies and governments. It is everyone’s commitment so that this sport does not go out.”

Regarding the generational change, he highlighted Isaac del Toro as the great emerging reference: “Today he is the main exponent of Latin American cycling. They have done a very successful process with himtaking him young to Europe and training him there. That is what we must continue to do.”

Thinking about the future, Nairo made it clear that his connection with cycling goes beyond the peloton: “I’m not just a professional cyclist. With our events, studies and projects we want to continue helping to youth and open paths for more talents to reach the highest level.”

And he left a direct message for those who are just starting out: “The most important thing is to love. With discipline the doors open. “Let them believe in them and continue fighting, because the flame of Latin American cycling cannot be extinguished.”
