Matías Fernández, the captain of Miter who will coach the First A of VILO
Think about Matias Fernandez is to imagine him in blue and with his characteristic red captain’s ribbon, defending Miter’s colors every Sunday, although on Saturdays the Cholo He does not sit still and for many years he was the second coach of the historic Carlos Geneyro, butThis time he took the role of principal in the VILO club.
“The truth is that I am very happy to be here in VILO, that they opened the doors for me. I had had quite an experience before with Carlos Geneyroso I was taking my first steps with him. We worked together for more than five years and we knew that at some point I had to take this step.“, stated the Cholo.
With Geneyro, the iconic coach of the City of Buenos Aires, he spent the last time at Tristán Suárez and achieved promotion to B last season, so he is aware of what lies ahead in the “C” with VILO: “I have known the category for three years and the truth is that it is very hard, but our goal is to establish ourselvesgo game by game and grow little by little. I felt that it was time, that I was prepared, that I had taken my first steps there as Carlos’s assistant to now launch myself into this challenge.”
Although Fernández has discipline between his eyebrows due to his career leading a club as big as Ferrocarril Miter, being the head coach has another type of requirement that will be quite a challenge: “Being in charge of a team means having much more responsibility, it means making decisions all the time.. But hey, the truth is that I’m happy and everything is also related to leadership. I try to put a lot of effort into the girls and all my influence so that it is a good year.”.
“We are going to have a very difficult year, we know it, we are very aware of that, but we also really want to put much more into it.“, stated Fernández.
