Luis Suárez’s double has a prize
Luis Suarez was chosen the best player of matchday 16 of Major League Soccer (MLS) thanks to his two goals against the Chicago Fire from Polish Robert Lewandowski which gave the victory to Inter Miami by 3-2.
The North American league highlighted that Suárez “he did a clinical performance” which helped keep Inter Miami in second position in the Eastern Conference, with 34 points, five less than the Nashville.
The 39-year-old Uruguayan forward turned the score around by converting a penalty in the first half and scoring 2-1 in the second half, after the Chicago Fire took the lead after a mistake by Rocco Ríos Novo, goalkeeper of the Miami team.
Furthermore, Luis Suárez took the shot that led to the final 3-2, after the rival goalkeeper, Chris Bradythe shot was rejected and the ball was pushed into the net by the Inter Miami youth player Preston Plambeck.
Suárez has already scored eight goals so far in MLS, placing himself as Inter Miami’s second top scorer, behind Lionel Messi, with twelve goals.
It is the first time that Suárez has been named player of the day this year and the fourth time since he arrived in MLS in December 2023.
