Licey consolidates leadership in LiDom round robin; Cardinals dominate in LVBP

SANTO DOMINGO — Sergio Alcántara hit a solo home run to tie the game in the top of the ninth inning, and Luis Barrera took advantage of a sacrifice bunt by Cristian Adames to score the difference run, in Saturday’s victory for the leaders Tigres del Licey 5-4 over Leones del Esído in the Dominican League postseason.

Alcántara homered to start the ninth off Esído’s closer Jimmy Cordero to tie the game. Miguel Andújar reached base on an error by first baseman Yamaico Navarro and advanced to second. Barrera entered as a pinch runner, moved to third on a single to center by Johnston and after one out, scored on a bunt via Adames’ 3-4.

Jonathan Aro (1-0) was the winning pitcher, Cordero (0-1) took the setback and JC Mejía earned his second save of the All Against All.

Andújar hit 3-for-5 with one run scored, Johan Rojas, 2-for-4 with one RBI, Johnston, 2-for-5 with a home run, scored and two RBIs, Alcántara hit his solo home run, Domingo Leyba, 1-for-5, who It was a double with one run scored, Michael De La Cruz, Emilio Bonifacio and Gustavo Núñez, a single each.
