Lehecka beat the revelation of the Miami Open and equaled a statistic shared by Alcaraz and Sinner

Jiri Lehecka, 22nd in the ATP ranking, prevailed over the great revelation Martín Landaluce (151st)7-6 (1) and 7-5 in the quarterfinals of the Miami Open 2026securing their place in the semifinals of the Masters 1000.

Beyond the result, the victory has a historical statistical value: Lehecka becomes the sixth player born in the 2000s in reaching semi-finals of an ATP Masters 1000 both on clay and hard courts, joining an elite roster that includes the Italian Jannik Sinner (2nd), Spanish Carlos Alcaraz (1st), the Danish Holger Rune (28th), the Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime (8th) and the British Jack Draper (26th).

The 24-year-old native of Mladá Boleslav also managed to become the sixth Czech tennis player to reach the semifinals in the state of Floridajoining legends from his country such as Tomas Smid, Ivan Lendl, Petr Korda and Thomas Berdych, as well as the defending champion, Jakub Mensik.

In the first set saved some initial break points and took the set to the tie break, in which Lehecka showed solidity to close it in his favor. However, the defeat does not tarnish a historic tournament for the 20-year-old from Madrid: after beating the local Marcos Giron (70th), the Italian Luciano Darderi (18th), the Russian Karen Khachanov (15th) and the home team Sebastian Korda (36th), who had eliminated Carlos Alcaraz in the previous phase, will climb the classification to be one step away from entering the top 100 in the ATP ranking by being installed virtually up to 105° place with 607 points.

In the semi-finals of Miami Open 2026Lehecka will face the winner of the cross between the American Tommy Paul (23rd) and the French Arthur Fils (31º), in a key that will define a atypical finalist in the men’s box.
