Las Diablas are semi-finalists of the 2026 World Cup
Las Diablas, getting closer to the 2026 World Cup. For the third and final day of Zone A, Chile beat France 1 to 0 and closed a perfect group stage (9 points out of 9, with previous victories against Switzerland by 6 to 0 and against Australia by 2 to 1). The goal for the Trans-Andeans was scored by Josefa Salas.
In the first quarter, Las Diablas showed the high level they have had in this competition and, with the help of Josefa Salas (8´) who deflected a drag from Denise Rojas Losada, opened the scoring at the “Claudia Schüler” National Stadium. Already in the second 15 minutes, France had more prominence in the game and achieved some dangerous chances in the goal defended by Natalia Salvador. Despite that, Chile managed to defend well and went into halftime with the lead they had in the first quarter.
In both the third and fourth quarters, the game was very frictional and with dangerous chances in both areas but finally Las Diablas, after suffering, achieved the long-awaited 1-0 victory and the perfect score in the group stage. After a Wednesday day that saw the elimination of Los Diablos, this Thursday the Chilean people celebrated the classification to the semifinals of Las Diablas.
