Lando Norris: “The result was perfect”
The winner of the Monaco GP analyzed his triumph, the rule of the two stops and spoke his trust.
The image of the conference room is the same on Saturday. Lando Norris, happy, sitting in the middle. Charles Leclerc, with a little long face, on his right, and Oscar Piastri, impertérrito as always, on the left. McLaren’s English had just achieved triumph in the GP of Monaco, eighth date of the World Cup, after having achieved a memorable pole on Saturday, which was key in the intricate street.
“There were tense moments in the race in which I had to press and Charles was never far away. Above all, in the end, when Max was in front. There were moments of tension, how not to get too close to Max, always that is where Charles He had opportunities, but I think we handle the strategy well. It is difficult to know if we could have done it better, surely we can check it and then look back, ”says Lando.
“In the end, the result was perfect. Sometimes it was complicated, so overcoming the race without making mistakes was very good. I felt good, with the management of the tires, the brakes and all that,” he adds. One of Lando’s weak points in his career, but perhaps stronger this year, was his apparent lack of trust, but he has another look. “I had confidence every Sunday this year. But yesterday (for Saturday) it was a more important day for me. I am proud of yesterday and also today.”
With respect to the regulations imposed by the FIA of two stops, Norris says: “There are rules that are not made for me. They are not made so that we enjoy the pilots, or anything like that. They are made for fans. They are made so that the spectators have more fun. I do not know if it was so.”
