Lando Norris showed his best version and won the Austrian GP

The Englishman, who came from starring in an accident with his teammate in Canada, won brilliantly, and without fissures, the 11th F1 date. Oscar Piastri was second and Charles Leclerc completed the podium.

What remarkable pilot is Lando Norris when you run from the path of errors! The big problem of English is that it costs a lot of consistency. At times it is Dr. Jekyll and quickly becomes Mr. Hyde. The major inconvenience for McLaren’s pilot is that his unstable and prone to mistakes appears much more often than his dream of being F1 champion advises. But when it is on, it shines. He did it in Monaco, where he lived an unforgettable weekend, with sublime management. It seemed that, finally, he had shaken his failures. But Barcelona arrived, and tamed the classification. And then they traveled to Canada, where he committed the most serious of all: he crashed to Oscar Piastri, his teammate, and was about to cause double abandonment for those of Woking. Lando arrived in Austria with the imperative need to redirect his way to fight for the title and leave behind Montreal, pull of ears in between, no matter how apologies he offered. And in Spielberg Dr. Jekyll reappeared, the one who shines.

As Monegasco did in the urban intricate, Norris signed an anthology pole, with a difference of half a second over his partner Piastri on a 64 -second track. The race was left and English could not fail. Norris’s task was sensational. Picó perfect, but as soon as he looked at the mirrors, he realized that the Australian was already stuck. Little Charles Leclerc could do with his Ferrari from the second drawer, the Australian was imposed on the pique. And the attack began. The granitic leader of the World Cup, who practically has no fissures, became a threat. Oscar wanted to win the psychological battle. He showed him the MCL39 everywhere, he wanted Mr. Hyde to appear in car number 4.

But it never appeared. In fact, the error in this case was on the side of Piastri. As if McLaren’s popes cannot have peace and continue mortifying themselves in each weekend. He was about to take Norris on Tour 20, after a violent blocked. They could end like Kimi Antonelli and Max Verstappen in the first curve. But Piastri controlled his McLaren. At the end of the race he sent the messenger by radio asking for forgiveness. But something was clear: the Australian will never leave Norris calmly when he is ahead. And from the team, which already showed shortcomings in 2024 when they had to administer the internal fight, again they were weak in Austria. In the radio communications that were public, they left their pilots the decision to stop or not in boxes when the strategy already marked it as necessary. As they did not want to get into the middle of the result and that one of the pupils rose after the race.

There is something that is practically a closed matter: the title will be settled between Norris and Piastri. It seems difficult to discard Max Verstappen, precisely because it is Max Verstappen, since reality shows that its Red Bull is far from the McLaren. But the premature abandonment of the Austrian caused a zero that left 61 Piastri points already 46 from Norris.

Woking pilots are pressed in 15. The hopes of the Dutch of achieving their fifth consecutive crown will be more supported by a fratricidal battle in McLaren as happened in Canada and almost happens in Spielberg. In the press between English and Australian, the margin of errors will undoubtedly weigh. Can Norris maintain the level of Monaco and Austria with more consistency or will return to the path of errors? There will be the key. Piastri was much stronger than his partner. The duel is open.
