KD to Rockets, part of the first exchange among 7 teams in the NBA
The first transfer between seven teams in the history of the NBA has just been completed, including the exchange of KD to Houston.
A series of movements that date back to Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets before the draft in the end became the first transfer between seven teams in the NBA historya gigantic and complex transaction when the annual moratorium of the league officially concluded on Sunday.
In total, the agreement involved the Rockets, Atlanta Hawks, Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers, Minnesota Timberwolves and Phoenix Suns. Six players (Durant, Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, Clint capela, David Roddy and Daeqwon Plowden), A first round of the draft (number 10 last month, used by Phoenix through Houston as part of the agreement with Durant to select the pivot Khaman Maluach) and 12 second round selections were also transferred. In addition, Houston made an exchange of second round teams with the Hawks and sent them financial compensation.
The main component of the agreement is the transfer that led Durant de Phoenix to Houston on June 22, game day 7 of the NBA finals. The future member of the Hall of Fame obtained second place of the West Conference last season in exchange for Green, Brooks, the tenth selection and five selections of second round.
With the transfer officer, Durant went to X on Sunday to reflect on his time with the Suns and his future with the Rockets:
The agreement with Durant could not be completed until Sunday, when the moratorium ended and the agreements were allowed in the 2025-26 season of the NBA, due to the fulfillment of the salary limit requirements. This allowed Phoenix to obtain those selections of second round of Houston and maneuver in the draft, making a series of agreements that ended up distributing them among various teams.
Finally, the Suns stayed with the first selection of the second round (the 31st global), which they used to select Saint Joseph forward, Rasheer Flemingin addition to the 41., which they used to sign the base KOBY BREA. Several other players were selected from selections involved in this agreement last month, including Adou Thiero of the Lakers (36th selection), Rocco Zikarsky of the Timberwolves (45.ª) and Alex Toohey of the Warriors (52.ª).
The period between the moment in which the agreement was signed and its officialization allowed the Rockets to extend it with the return of Capela. The 31 -year -old pivot was selected by Houston in 2014 and spent his first six seasons there before playing the last five with the Hawks. This transfer provides the Rockets with a greater depth in the pivot position, behind Alperen Sengun and Steven Adams.
