Junior Pan American Cup: the tournament that opens the door to the World Cup
From April 6 to 18, The continental under 21 championship that grants places for the World Cup of the category will be played in Santiago de Chile. Las Leoncitas and Los Leoncitas also want to repeat the title.
Argentina, Chile and Uruguay will seek the great objective: qualify for the Under 21 World Cup. How can they achieve it? In the junior continental championship that will be played from April 6 to 18 in Santiago, Chile.
On the women’s side, a total of six national teams will participate: Las Leoncitas, Las Diablas Junior from Chile, Las Cimarronas from Uruguay, and the teams from the United States, Canada and Mexico. Those who finish in the first four places will secure their place in the Under 21 ecumenical event.
On the male side, the benefit is smaller. Only those who make the podium will obtain a ticket to the World Cup. These three places will be fought between Los Leoncitos, Los Diablos Juniors and the teams from Canada, the United States, Brazil, Mexico and Venezuela.
The format consists of a first round of all against all. Then, depending on how they are placed in the general standings, the 1st with the 4th and the 2nd with the 3rd will face each other in the semifinals.
The last champions in the 2024 edition that took place in Surrey, Canada, were the two Argentine teams. The women’s team beat the Americans 3-1 in the final, while the men beat Canada 10-0.
