Jorge Jesus turns the page with the suspended Cristiano Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo He appears in the pre-list of those called up for Portugal’s next matches drawn up by the coach, Jorge Jesus, after having abandoned the last concentration due to disagreements with the coach.
According to the Portuguese press, Cristiano is part of the extensive list of players that Jorge Jesus has for the Nations League matches against Denmark and Wales which will be played on November 14 and 17, respectively, for which the captain will already be available after having served the sanction he received on the 19th.
One month suspension and fine of 255 euros
Cristiano Ronaldo was sanctioned by the Disciplinary Council of the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) with a 30-day suspension and a fine of 255 euros, the minimum provided for in the regulations, for having left the training camp in Portugal on September 30.
However, as the former Real Madrid attacker, currently at Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr, was automatically suspended on the day of his controversial departure, the sentence will end next Saturday, October 30.
The controversy
Cristiano Ronaldo, 41, left due to disagreements with Jorge Jesus, after not having been lined up in the match against Norway in Oslo on the 27th of that same month (1-2).
According to the player in a statement, the reason for the discrepancy was that Jorge Jesus had made him warm up for half an hour and then did not allow him to enter.
In his note, published on the 6th, Cristiano accused the coach of having “Broken his word”, but, “despite the absolute lack of trust in the coach’s word (…) he should not have done it.”
In that same text, the Portuguese captain was open to any suspension and to return to the team, if he is found “physically well.”
Portugal, current champion of the Nations League, occupies first place in group A4 after four victories in as many games, which has already assured its presence in the next phase of the competition.
On November 14 they will face Denmark in the Portuguese city of Braga, while on the 17th they will face Wales in Cardiff.
