James Rodriguez returns to Colombian football “seduced” for the history of Atlético Nacional de Medellína club he described as “big and unique”to whom he arrives ready to compete and always win, as he stated this Friday during his presentation as a new player for the Antioquia team.

““This club, everyone knows what it is, it’s something big, it’s something unique,” said James during the event, broadcast online, in which he was accompanied by Sebastian Arango, president of the green and white club, the coach Lucas Gonzalez and the sports director, Victor Marulanda.

The 35-year-old midfielder explained that since the first conversations with Atlético Nacional, which began last Monday, he felt something special that led him to accelerate his return to the country after almost two decades.

“A club hasn’t made me feel this way for a long time,” recognized James, who assured that these feelings are a sign that “big things are coming.”

The Colombian also highlighted the weight of the Nacional shirt, a characteristic that, far from intimidating him, is attractive to him after having played for some of the main clubs in Europe such as Bayern Munich or Real Madrid.

““I have played in big clubs, I know what it is like to be in big clubs, you have to perform even in training,” he stated.

James Rodríguez (Cúcuta, 1991) returns to the Colombian league 19 years after leaving the Envigado to sign for him banfield Argentine and embark on a successful career that led him to Porto, Monaco, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Everton, Al Rayyan, Sao Paulo, Olympiacos, Rayo Vallecano, León and Minnesota United.

He also showed himself willing to play in different positions and recalled that throughout his career he has played as a midfielder, winger, ten and on the left, and left the decision in the hands of González.

The coach highlighted the player’s career and considered that his arrival will raise the level of Nacional: ““The good guys always have to be on the field and the good guys have to be together.”

James’ arrival is due to Nacional’s ambition to win its nineteenth league and compete again for the Copa Libertadores, a tournament it has won twice.
